PRINCIPAL

Mrs. Jennifer Cooper

I'm honored to continue to serve as Millis Road's Principal where I've served for the last 6 years. Millis Road has a rich and proud history, and I am honored to be included among its ranks. Our school's core values of Integrity, Relationships, and Excellence guide everything we do. We focus on teaching the whole child through our dedication to academics, attendance, and social emotional learning.

I started my career in Winston Salem Forsyth County Schools as a second-grade teacher at Mineral Springs Elementary. I then transitioned to Davidson County Schools. There I spent the next eight years working as a First and Second grade teacher, Reading Specialist and Response to Intervention Specialist. In 2011, I began my work with Guilford County Schools as a district Literacy Curriculum Specialist. I learned so much in this role yet decided I'd prefer to be at the school level where the magic happens for students. The next year, I became the Reading Specialist at Johnson Street Global Studies and later their Curriculum Facilitator. After earning my master's degree in School Administration through the High Point University Leadership Academy, I was awarded the Assistant Principalship at Montlieu Academy of Technology where I served for two and a half years.

It is a privilege to serve as your child's Principal and I look forward to continuing our partnership to ensure success with their elementary experience as this is the foundation for greater life outcomes. Go Roadrunners!

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Dr. Kenya Smith

My name is Dr. Kenya Smith and I am proud to serve as the new assistant principal at Millis Road Elementary School.  I am honored to have been selected to be a Road Runner!  I can relate to a road runner because I like to “hit the ground running”.  I am a Greensboro native and I have served as an assistant principal in Guilford County for the past 13 years.  In that time, I have developed trusting relationships with parents, professional relationships with colleagues, and served as a mentor to countless numbers of students over my career.

I have been described as a hard-working, relational leader that is able to achieve results based on building authentic and trusting relationships, past educational experiences, and life-long learning.  I also am passionate about ELA, culturally responsive pedagogy  and data analysis. I wanted to share with you a little about my educational background and my educator path.  I am a servant leader and here to help in anyway possible.  Thank you for receiving me and I look forward to working with you!
